BUPA Great Manchester Run

May 2007

A number of PCRF supporters were undertaking their first 10k run when they did the Great Manchester Run on May 20th. David Webster told us, " I lost my mum to this terrible form of cancer two years ago and I'm running this race to help raise both money and awareness. This is my first 10k and I've set myself a target time of under an hour."

Greg Dalziel and Natalie Milton were running in memory of Greg's father who died in 2006. Afterwards, Greg wrote, "We are proud to have represented the charity in memory of my Dad. I hope the money will help to continue the great work you do at PCRF. We both thoroughly enjoyed our involvement in the run itself and in the fundraising process - although compared to the run, the fundraising was the easy part! It took us a little while to get round the course, but considering it was our first long distance run, we did quite well."

Lisa Hudson is a more experienced runner and set herself the challenge of completing the race in under 46 minutes, to beat her personal best of 47.56. Lisa was running to raise awareness of pancreatic cancer following her mother-in-law's diagnosis in December 2006.

Brothers David and Mark Woodcock were participating in memory of friend Enid Webster, who died of pancreatic cancer, aged 45.

Mark's wife Nadine was Enid's best friend and she has organised a number of fundraising events for the charity. She wrote, "Just a quick note to let you know the boys completed the race in just under the hour! They had a really great time, enjoying the atmosphere of the event. But most of all knowing that they have actually contributed in helping to raise money for a worthy cause - your charity and in Enid's memory - was the best "buzz" of all."
