Great South Run

Portsmouth

October 2006

Although completely new to running, Sonia Blackford was persuaded to enter the 10 mile BUPA Great South Run as a way to raise money and awareness for pancreatic cancer research in memory of her grandfather, who died of the disease in 2003. "It's something close to my heart", she explained.

After the run, Sonia told us, "The weather was awful but I was too excited to notice it and I definitely have the bug for running now. Think I might try the Half Marathon next! I was aiming to complete the run in 2 hours and managed 1 hour 47 minutes, so I'm really pleased."
