In memory of his mother, who died of pancreatic cancer in 2006, Geoff Maidment took part in the 2007 Great South Run. In the past, the run has proved a pretty wet affair and 2007 was no different. Afterwards, Geoff wrote, I raised £2,000 and finished 386th, which certainly surprised me. I think it was because it was pouring with rain, which affected others more than me."
