Hilary Dyer wanted to raise funds for the charity in memory of her late husband James, and decided on a midsummer 'do' at home. She was delighted with the support she received from friends and family - "As you know, we held a Girls Only Champagne and Strawberries Garden party at our home on Sunday 25th June. Seventy-five ladies came along, consuming 30 bottles of champagne and 25 punnets of strawberries. We had two chocolate fountains with milk and white chocolate in which we dipped strawberries, marshmallows and shortbread. So all the sins were catered for and there was a great deal of happy laughter!!!"

"Several ladies had a swim in our indoor pool and a friend's daughter sold silver jewellery and gave us 10% of her takings towards our funds. I was absolutely amazed at the generosity of all the people who attended, but also many of the people who were unable to come."
