Exhibition Tennis Match

St. George's Hill Lawn Tennis Club, Weybridge

June 2006

Michael Dawe recently lost his wife Cordelia to pancreatic cancer. Michael is a highly experienced tennis player and he took the opportunity of an exhibition tennis match featuring John Lloyd to raise funds for the charity by auctioning a pair of Wimbledon tickets.

The match was played at St George's Hill in front of over 200 members. Both Michael and his wife had been members of the club for over 30 years. Michael is a teaching professional at the club, and also one of Great Britain's top veteran players - he was ranked No.1 in Great Britain in the Over 50's and ranked in the world's top 5 in this age group. He was joined on court by David Collins, who played on the professional tour for a couple of years before becoming a teaching professional.

John Lloyd, three times mixed doubles Grand Slam winner, was partnered by James Auckland, who is one of Britain's brightest prospects, and currently ranked No. 1 in Great Britain for doubles.

Members were treated to a fun filled match of great tennis and trick shots on a lovely evening on the grass courts at St George's Hill.
