Coast to Coast Cycle

Whitehaven to Tynemouth

June 2008

In early June 2008, Phil Dodsworth, Andy Wright and Ken and Douglas Mosley rode Britain's most famous long distance cycle ride known as the C2C (Coast to Coast), spanning 137 miles from Whitehaven to Tynemouth. Phil and the team didn't set out to break any records, but were lucky enough to enjoy fantastic weather and covered the distance over five days. They organised the trip to raise funds in memory of Nan Mosley who passed away in May 2007. Following generous support from family, friends and work colleagues, they managed to raise over £1400.

Phil told us afterwards, "This is the first ride we have attempted and we wanted to enjoy every minute of it as it was a part of Britain none of us had previously explored. Nan absolutely loved the countryside and the sections through the Pennines were breathtaking, making the trip both poignant and special. Following the success of the ride, we have decided to make this a family fixture (although this might involve adopting Andy!), and the process of targeting another route for 2009 has already commenced."
