Barclays staff bring extra ray of sunshine to Ely

14 August 2013

Customers who visited Barclays branch in Ely had an even warmer welcome than usual on Friday 2nd August as branch staff held a summer themed coffee morning, selling cakes they’d baked themselves and raffling prizes generously donated by local businesses, as well as organising a summer sports day.

The Barclays team raised over £2,000 for the Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund. The events were held in memory of their friend and colleague, Premier Relationship Manager Alan Rasberry, who died in June just a few weeks after his diagnosis.

Jason Sadler, Branch Manager, explains:  “Alan had only joined us in August last year; he made a big impact on us all and was very much a people person and a team player.  He brought with him huge experience from throughout his career and he was always happy to share his knowledge. He had time for everyone.”

Maggie Blanks, CEO of the Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund said: “What a great idea to have the sports day after all that cake to help work off the extra calories! We're very grateful to the Barclays team in Ely for their hard work and effort. It's clear that Alan is a much missed colleague and the money raised will be put to great use, helping to fund the very best of UK research into this disease."Barclays Ely branch staff
