Help me hit my target before I am gone

28 June 2011

Though dying of pancreatic cancer, Tony Church inspires amazing support with his positive spirit.

52-year-old Tony Church was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in November 2010. He was determined to raise money for Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund.

Despite increasing weakness that made walking difficult, he and his family organised a 5k walk in April in their locality and, accompanied by many friends and colleagues, raised nearly £13,000. A generous donation by Tony's employer brought the fundraising total to nearly £19,000.

"I'm keen to get to £20k before I pass away", was Tony's email to PCRF on 23rd June. An article in Tony's local newspaper, an item on PCRF's Facebook page and an interview on BBC Radio Northampton prompted more donations from existing PCRF supporters and well-wishers from the general public, enabling Tony to reach £20,000 a week later.

Despite counting the time he has left in days rather than weeks, and demonstrating amazing positive spirit, Tony is not stopping there and is now aiming for £22,000.
