Top notch support for PCRF from Mon Breton

25 July 2017

Mon Breton is generously supporting Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund by making a donation for every traditional Breton stripe top ordered with the PCRF logo and a monogram embroidered on it.

When Joan Lambert read about the offer she thought it was a lovely idea. She purchased a top and had it embroidered with her late husband Harold’s name.

Harold and Joan had been married for over 60 years when he died of pancreatic cancer in April this year, aged 90. A renowned expert in communicable diseases, he was both a practising doctor at St George’s Hospital in London and a Professor of Microbial Diseases. Harold was described by his colleagues as “a great physician, a true gentleman and a generous spirit”.  With a shared love of horticulture, he and Joan were the creative force behind the development of the beautiful and serene Water Garden at the hospital for patients and their families to enjoy, an achievement he was extremely proud of.

Joan says: “Harold always loved trees. We planted many over the years and his particular favourite was the ash. So when I saw that PCRF’s logo was the golden ash leaf, the Mon Breton offer seemed a fitting way to raise research funds. Both Harold and I worked in a research environment for many years and always understood how important research is to understanding diseases and  improving survival rates for patients.”
