November is Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month!

We had a busy time leading up to and during November 2011.

Our 16-page supplement on pancreatic cancer appeared in The Times on 3rd. November. The supplement was a significant contribution to awareness raising amongst the general public by providing a comprehensive look at the challenges posed by pancreatic cancer, the lack of research in the past and the work of Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund in funding innovative research into early detection and more effective treatments. Bake & Share November 2011

'Bake & Share' - baking cakes and involving friends, family or colleagues in eating them - was promoted as a fundraising theme for Awareness Month. A big thank-you to all those who signed up for the very first Bake & Share event as part of Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month. It was a great success and proved to be a fun way to raise funds and raise awareness of the need for more research. Here are just a few of the supporters who took part:

Bake&Share Denise Williamson
Denise Williamson, 3rd left, with the help of friends and family, raised over £1,100 in Belfast with a Bake & Share day in memory of her mother.

Mr. Whippy fairy cakes
"We had great fun", said supporter Nicky Jones, "and I felt very touched to do this after losing my mum to pancreatic cancer. The fairy cakes made to look like Mr. Whippy 99 ice creams went down a storm!"

Enjoying tea at a Bake & Share event
Emily Suett was the youngest attender at Angela Carter's Coffee Morning in aid of PCRF, which raised £610. Said Angela,"This far outweighed what we expected from a 4-hour coffee morning. Everybody was so generous."

Coventry B. Soc Bake & Share
Staff at Coventry Building Society Customer Service Centre raised over £200 at their Bake & Share event. "We have very hungry staff at our Head Office", said Sasha Longford who helped organise the event. "This charity is close to our hearts after the loss of a much-loved colleague Bev Cummins."

Janet Drummond, right, sold cakes at her workplace and her family's workplaces, raising £430.
